Meeting of National Police Directors-General under the framework of PCC SEE

A meeting of National Police Directors-General was convened under the auspices of the Austrian Chairmanship-in-Office of the PCC SEE, in cooperation with the Slovenian National Police and PCC SEE Secretariat, from 4 to 6 September 2013 in Brdo pri Kranju, Slovenia.

The meeting was held in parallel to the Meeting of Border Police Chiefs organised under the auspices of the DCAF Border Security Programme. The National Police Directors-General from Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania and Slovenia agreed that the PCC SEE is a solid legal basis for combating crime and strongly supported the focus and initiatives in the PCC SEE implementation process, emphasising the strengthening of their role in the latter and advancing the practical implementation. They identified a strong need for intensified communication and exchange of information, specifically in the area of DNA, and assessed community policing in minorities as an issue to be dealt with on an international approach, tasking the PCC SEE Secretariat to organise a regional conference with the aim to exchange good practices and experience in the specific field of prevention and police performance under the framework of the PCC SEE.

Several activities were held together with the Border Police Chiefs, such as the visit to the Slovenian Police Command and Control Centre coordinating police security measures at the Eurobasket Championship 2013 currently taking place in Slovenia, the Slovenian Police Air Support Unit and the Border Focal Point.
