1st Meeting of the Thematic Working Group on JIT Expert Network within PCC SEE
The first Meeting of the Thematic Working Group on JIT Expert Network, convened under the auspices of the Austrian Chairmanship-in-Office and with support from the PCC SEE Secretariat, took place on 9-11 December 2013 in Begunje na Gorenjskem, Slovenia. The meeting was attended by representatives of the national law enforcement and judiciary authorities from the Contracting Parties with competence in the area of Joint Investigation Teams.
As a first step, the participants reviewed the international and respective national legal framework concerning JITs and exchanged examples of good practice and experience. They were acquainted with the JIT Manual, which is also part of the Police Cooperation Convention Manual, and discussed the possibilities on how to upgrade the content. Discussion was also focused on practical issues and challenges related to the setting up of JITs. The participants were informed about the SPCP 2012-2016 – funded and EU Commission – funded projects supporting the PCC SEE implementation process, as well as the events related to JITs foreseen in the 18-month work programme of the Trio PCC SEE Chairmanship for the period 2014 – mid 2015. Further steps and strategic goals of the JIT Expert Network were also defined.
