2nd meeting of the Project Strategic Committee
The Project “Joint comprehensive approach in building co-operation between MARRI and SEPCA Member States’ border police on international airport border crossing points”, whose duration is from 01 September 2011 to 31 August 2012, is a follow-up of the Project “Establishment of network for co-operation among border police on international airport border crossing points in MARRI Member States”, implemented in the course of 2010, which resulted with completion of main Project outcome - Establishment of Permanent Regional Working Group/Network for Cooperation and information exchange consisted of commanders of the border police units from the main International airports border crossing points in MARRI Member States.
The Project is funded by the Swiss Confederation and co-funded by MARRI and SEPCA.
The 2nd meeting of the Project Strategic Committee was dedicated to the evaluation of the implemented project activities and progress achieved so far, providing of valuable input, coordination and guidance for the future successful implementation and information mechanisms. Representatives or directors of Border Police from Bulgaria, Romania and Moldova, were invited to the meeting as well as they expressed their willingness to signed a Memorandum of Understanding on sustainability of the established co-operation network between border police units on international airports.
PCC SEE Secretariat actively participated at the meeting and presented the current state of play regarding the concrete forms of operational cooperation between PCC SEE Contracting Parties, especially the exchange of forged and fake travel documents among the CPs.
The next meeting will take place in Sofia, on 25 – 27 April 2012, and will be attended by the station commanders of the international airports.
