2nd Meeting of the Thematic Working Group on JIT Expert Network

Sofia, Bulgaria - The 2nd Meeting of the Thematic Working Group on JIT Expert Network, convened under the auspices of the Bulgarian Chairmanship-in-Office with support from the PCC SEE Secretariat, took place on 4 and 5 September in Sofia. The meeting brought together representatives of the national law enforcement and judiciary authorities from the PCC SEE Contracting Parties with competencies in the area of Joint Investigation Teams (JITs).

The participants exchanged information on recent amendments to their respective national legislations in the area of JITs, shared lessons learned and practical advice based on experience gained from JITs/parallel investigations and discussed technical and legal obstacles encountered in JITs where a non-EU MS country was involved. They also received valuable information from EUROPOL, EUROJUST and CEPOL on the agencies’ support available to both EU MS and aspiring EU Candidate countries.

Part of the meeting was dedicated to operational discussions concerning real investigations in the PCC SEE Contracting Parties, further facilitating the strengthening of practical cross-border law enforcement and judicial cooperation and building of mutual trust among the PCC SEE countries.
