Meeting of Police Directors-General under the framework of PCC SEE
Tirana, Albania - The PCC SEE Meeting of Police Directors-General was organised back-to-back with the SEPCA General Assembly meeting on 14 April 2015 in Tirana. The meeting, convened under the auspices of the Hungarian Chairmanship in Office with support from the PCC SEE Secretariat, addressed the problematic of proliferation of illicit firearms, components, ammunition and explosives from a national and regional perspective. As a conclusion it was agreed that intensified regional cooperation is essential to better tackle the transnational dimension of illicit trafficking in firearms across the region. The discussion indicated that there are several existing initiatives in the region addressing different aspects of the fight against illicit trafficking of firearms. In view of reducing the risks of duplication and overburdening of experts, the PCC SEE Contracting Parties welcomed the organization of an ad hoc meeting in the near future to map these initiatives and explore ways in which communication and analytical support can be more effectively provided to all Contracting Parties. The PCC SEE Contracting Parties also agreed that the PCC SEE Counter-Terrorism Network will address the issue of illicit firearms.
