5th Meeting of the Thematic Working Group on Police Education and Training

Budapest, Hungary - The 5th Meeting of the Thematic Working Group on Police Education and Training took place between 25 and 27 May 2015 in Budapest, Hungary, under the Hungarian PCC SEE Chairmanship-in-Office and with support of the PCC SEE Secretariat. The meeting was joined with the DCAF Border Security Programme Working group on Education and Training in order to bring the work and discussion of both groups closer.

The meeting provided the participants with an opportunity to present the recent developments related to the training activities that relate to the PCC SEE and to address the results of the Training Needs Assessment which was conducted by the Hungarian Chairmanship-In-Office. This provided the participant an opportunity to discuss the results and also the possibility of addressing these needs within the workings of the Thematic Working Group itself. In this context the forming of a PCC SEE pool of experts was supported and reconfirmed.

The participants also discussed various solutions implemented by the contracting parties within their training institutions, such as the introduction of e-learning platforms and setting up of a PCC SEE subject that could in the future also be made available for students in various exchange programmes, such as the Erasmus, Leonardo projects etc.

The participants welcomed all information provided by their counterparts and the Secretariat on its activities. In this regards they were informed on the new approach taken by the Secretariat to organise Webinars on various PCC SEE related topics, an activity which was also endorsed by Cepol, and also on the forthcoming 4th Train-the-Trainers Summer Training Camp which will take place in Andermatt, Switzerland, between 10 and 16 August 2015.
